On 8 April, the Kids and Diabetes in Schools (KiDS) programme officially launched a new website with revamped and new resources at the World Diabetes Congress in Bangkok, Thailand. KiDS aims to combat diabetes-related stigma and promote healthy lifestyles among children for a healthier future. The new visual identity of KiDS represents a commitment to making diabetes education more engaging and accessible. The revamped resources were designed to be informative and relatable, so they resonate with educators and students alike.
Attendees at the IDF 2025 spotlight session, Bringing Diabetes Education, Awareness and Prevention into the Classroom, were first to discover the new KiDS look. The session featured panellists Bruno Helman from IDF, Charles Trolliet from Sanofi Thailand, Prof Laura Cudizio from ISPAD, and Prof Taninee Petwijit from Diabetes Association Thailand (DAT). The panel shared experiences and insights on the benefits of multi-stakeholder collaboration to implement diabetes education in schools.
The crucial role schools play in shaping children’s lives and behaviours underpins the integration of diabetes education into the curriculum. Since its inception in 2013, KiDS has gone from strength to strength, reaching 687,000 children and 27,000 teachers across 21 countries. With resources translated into 20 languages and adapted to local customs, the programme exemplifies a global effort to educate children about type 1 diabetes and promote healthy lifestyles to delay or prevent type 2 diabetes.
